Originally known as Mount Comfort, the community of Mount Pleasant is nestled in the heart of one of the first areas in the region to be settled. The town is home to the Eastern Cabarrus Historical Museum and many beautifully preserved examples of German architecture line the streets of its charming historic downtown district. The community is located just southeast of Kannapolis between Concord and Albemarle along Highway 73. Mount Comfort offers easy access to the outstanding recreational area surrounding the Badin Lake waterfront, which includes opportunities for camping, fishing, and boating. In fact, the Uwharrie National Forest that surrounds Badin Lake offers more camping areas than any other location in the North Carolina Piedmont. Nearby Concord and Kannapolis expand the options for cultural attractions and first-rate shopping close to home.
